10 UNCOMMON FILIPINO WORDS

 

 As of today, we Filipinos are actually using the common words. They don’t even know that there are still lots of words that aren’t common as to our generation

1.Filipino word: “pook- sapot”

English Translation: Website

Definition: A place on the world wide web that contains information about a person,organization,etc. and that usually consists of many Web Pages joined by hyperlinks. Used in a sentence:Nakagawa na kami ng isang pook-sapot para sa aming proyekto. 2.Filipino word: “yakis” English Translator: to sharpen Defintion: To make (something) sharp or sharpen. Used in a sentence: Kailangan kong i-yakis ang lapis ko. 3.Filipino word: “sulatroniko” English Translation: E-mail Definition: A system of sending messages to one computer to another. Used in a sentence: Nagpadala akong ng sulatroniko sa’yo kanina lang. 4. Filipino word: “pang-ulong hatinig” English Translation: Headset Defintion: A device that holds an earphone and a microphone in place on person’s head. Used in a sentence: Bumili ako ng pang-ulong hatinig sa mall 5. Filipino word:“pantablay” English Translator: Charger Definition: A device for charging storage devices. Used in a sentence: Nasaan na ang pantablay ng telepono ko? 6.Filipino word:“miktinig” English Translation: Microphone Definition: An instrument whereby sound waves are caused to generate or modulate an electric current usually for the purpose of transmitting or recording sound ( a speech or music). Used in a sentence: Gumamit siya ng miktinig upang marinig ng lahat ang kanyang sasabihin. 7.Filipino word:“kawingan” English Translation: Hyperlink Definition: A highlighted word or picture in a document or Web page that you can click on with a computer mouse to go to another place in the same or a different document or Web page. Used in a sentence: Dapat lagyan ng kawingan ang ginawa kong presentasyon sa MS Powerpoint. 8.Filipino word: “duyog” English Translation: Eclipse Definition: An occasion when the sun looks like it is completely or partially covered with a dark circle because the moon is between the sun and the earth. Use in a sentence: Sana ay makapanood ako ng duyog. 9. Filipino word:“asoge” English Translation: Mercury Defintion: A silver metal that is liquid at normal temperatures. Used in a sentence: Ang asoge ay isa sa mga planeta sa Solar System. 10.Filipino word: “anluwage” English Translation: Carpenter Defintion: A person whose job is to make or fix wooden objects or wooden parts of a building. Used in a sentence: Kailangan namin ng isang anluwage para magpagawa ng bahay-kubo.
